Dmitri Sivtsov, M.D., received his M.D. from the St. Petersburg State Pavlov Medical University, Russia in 1995. Following his residency at the Bekhterev Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in St. Petersburg, he became a staff physician in the Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse at the institute. In 2001, he began an externship in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry in the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program, Department of Psychiatry, at the University of California at San Diego. He then moved to do an internship in psychiatry at the Harvard South Shore Residency Training Program. In 2003, he began his residency in psychiatry at the UCLA/San Fernando Valley Residency Training Program. He was chief resident from 2005-2006. In those same years, he was a staff physician in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center. In 2006, he became Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Dr. Sivtsov lives in the San Diego area and enjoys cars and travel. His father, Aleksander Sivtsov, M.D., is an eminent psychiatrist in St. Petersburg.
