Dr. Robert Blum received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955 from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and his MD degree in 1959 from the University of Rochester. Dr. Blum has performed more than one thousand spine and brain surgeries during his forty years as a neurosurgeon. He has been serving the workers’ Compensation community since 1991 and is well known and respected by both applicant and defense bar as well as insurance carriers. He has vast experience in understanding and applying the AMA guidelines and is a sought after lecturer regarding recent changes in compensation law, and also in anatomy and physiology of the brain.
Dr. Blum has been a concert pianist, gypsy accordionist, acclaimed photographer, television personality and star of a nationally syndicated medical comedy show (!), shipboard recreation director, European tour guide, and the physician who introduced percutaneous disc surgery to the US from Japan 30 years ago, founder of the first pain clinics in Northern California, and past chair of the department of neurology and neurosurgery of Marin General Hospital.
