Mathias Masem, M.D.

Dr. Mathias Masem was born in Brainerd, Minnesota and received his A.B. degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. After spending time as a legislative analyst with the Minnesota State Senate he went on to earn his M.D. degree at the University of Minnesota. He moved to California to do his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He then moved to Switzerland, where he spent two years as an orthopaedic research physician at the University of Bern and at the Laboratory for Experimental Surgery in Davos. Dr. Masem moved to Massachusetts, where he completed training in hand, upper extremity and microsurgery as Clinical and Research Fellow in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston.
